Kwankwaso to Join ADC, Reshaping Nigeria's Opposition

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, is expected to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday. This move is part of a strategy to reshape Nigeria's opposition landscape in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Sources confirm that arrangements for Kwankwaso's official defection have been concluded, with a formal declaration anticipated in Abuja. This development signals a significant political realignment and the potential formation of a formidable opposition coalition.

Kwankwaso's entry into the ADC is not merely symbolic; it aims to strengthen the party's national outlook, leveraging his grassroots appeal and loyal political base. His candidacy in the 2023 elections with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) remains a central figure in northern politics, particularly in Kano State.
