Kwankwaso to Join ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, is scheduled to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday, as disclosed on Tuesday. This strategic move comes as Kwankwaso prepares for the 2027 general elections, having previously contested in the 2023 presidential elections under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

His membership card acquisition is expected to take place in his hometown, Madobi Local Government Area, Kano State. Recently, Kwankwaso has intensified consultations with key political figures in Kano, including discussions with Labour Party's Peter Obi and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, indicating potential collaborations for the upcoming electoral cycle.

Meanwhile, the ADC is also working on strengthening its internal structure, with a review of its constitution being presented by legal advisor Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor on behalf of national chairman David Mark, emphasizing the need for the party's constitution to reflect current political realities.

Kwankwaso's entry into the ADC is anticipated to enhance the party's profile ahead of the 2027 elections.
