Kwankwaso Backs Obi for NDC Presidential Ticket in 2027

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, announced his support for Peter Obi's presidential candidacy under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the upcoming 2027 elections. During an appearance on Arise TV's primetime program, Kwankwaso stated that the NDC has agreed to zone the presidential ticket to southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.

He believes this arrangement will help alleviate political tensions related to power rotation. Kwankwaso and Obi have discussed strategies to tackle insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria.

He also hinted at the possibility of collaborating with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 elections. The political landscape is shaped by a significant number of young Nigerians seeking new directions for the country, with both the Obidi movement and the Kwankwasiyya movement sharing similar ideals.
