Kwankwaso Ready to Join Obi as Running Mate for 2027

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, announced his willingness to become Peter Obi's running mate in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Speaking on State Trust TV, Kwankwaso highlighted the importance of political realignment ahead of the elections, asserting that the current mindset of his party strongly supports Obi.

He believes that a joint ticket is a realistic strategic option for the opposition, given Obi's significant political influence across Nigeria, particularly in the southern regions. Kwankwaso pointed out that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains a major political force in Kano State and the northwest, citing the electoral victories of Abba Yusuf, who won the governorship in both 2019 and 2023.

He emphasized that the alliance between his movement and Obi could create a formidable opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
