Baba-Ahmed Questions Kwankwaso's Role as Obi's Running Mate

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, raised concerns regarding the possibility of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso serving as a running mate to Peter Obi in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. In an interview with Channel Television, Baba-Ahmed highlighted Kwankwaso's long political history, which includes serving as a deputy speaker starting in 1990, becoming the governor of Kano State in 1999 for two terms, and later holding the position of Minister of Defence and Senator.

Baba-Ahmed emphasized that Kwankwaso's strong political base, particularly in Kano State, complicates the situation, as Kano is a populous state in Nigeria. He noted that Kwankwaso remains a significant political figure and suggested that it would be challenging for him to accept a secondary role, indicating that his political stature may not align with the expectations of a deputy position.
