Kwankwaso Explains Alliance with Peter Obi for 2027 Elections

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State and current leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), revealed his reasons for choosing to collaborate with Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, in preparation for the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Monday, Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of returning to the political practices of Nigeria's founding leaders, such as Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello.

He noted that the North and South East regions must work together for the country's progress. Kwankwaso described the people of the South East as long-time allies of the North and expressed optimism about their potential collaboration.

He referenced historical political leadership during Nigeria's Second Republic, including figures like Shehu Shagari, to illustrate the need for unity and effective leadership. Kwankwaso's acceptance to work with Obi is rooted in the belief that they can collectively advance the nation.
