Kwara PDP Aspirants Agree on Consensus for 2027 Elections

Five governorship aspirants of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State have reached an agreement to adopt a consensus arrangement for the 2027 elections. This decision, described as a result of extensive and cordial deliberations held at the Maitama residence of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, aims to strengthen unity within the party.

The aspirants emphasized the importance of prioritizing the party's overall success above individual ambitions to avoid unnecessary divisions and conserve resources as they enter the campaign season. They collectively agreed to recommend a consensus arrangement for selecting the party's gubernatorial candidate and pledged to fully support whoever emerges as the party's flagbearer.

The letter of agreement, which has been authenticated by the party's spokesperson Olusegun Adewara, indicates that consultations have already begun to garner support across the state. The aspirants include Ali Ahmad, Omar Bolaji, Gambari Ladi, Hassan Athav, and Olaseni Ibiwoy, who have committed to adhering to this agreement to prevent actions that could undermine party cohesion.
