Kwara Senator Sulaiman Sadiq Eyes 2027 Governorship

Sulaiman Sadiq, the senator for Kwara North, announced his ambition to run for the governorship of Kwara State in the 2027 elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this declaration during a televised interview on Monday, highlighting his extensive experience in both the private and public sectors as a foundation for his leadership aspirations.

Sadiq stressed that the time is ripe for Kwara North to produce the next governor, advocating for equitable development across the three senatorial districts of the state. He believes that his leadership will foster inclusivity and sustainable growth.

In response to potential opposition from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which is reportedly eyeing the governorship ticket for the Kwara Central senatorial district, Sadiq expressed confidence in the APC's grassroots support and track record, asserting that the party is well-positioned for victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The APC's state congress is scheduled for March 3, 2026, in Ilorin, where qualified delegates are expected to participate.
