Digital Imam Urges Focus on Insecurity for 2027 Elections

Sheikh Nuruddeen Khalid, known as the "Digital Imam," has called for insecurity to be a central issue in the upcoming 2027 general elections in Nigeria, rather than allowing religious affiliations to dominate political discourse. This statement came in response to the abduction of over 60 worshippers during Friday prayers in Dekara, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Khalid expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence and abductions in Nigeria, questioning how many more lives must be lost before decisive action is taken. He criticized the selective outrage that often accompanies such incidents, noting that public reactions seem to depend on the religious identity of the victims.

Khalid emphasized the importance of using the democratic process to demand better security, urging voters to focus on candidates' capabilities to protect lives and property, irrespective of their religious background. He stated that anyone unable to address the issue of insecurity should not be voted for in the 2027 elections.
