Daurawa Advocates Competence Over Religion for 2027 Elections

Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, a prominent Islamic scholar, called on Nigerians to focus on electing competent leaders rather than making elections a religious issue. His remarks were made during an interview with DW, monitored by DAILY POST, in response to Sheikh Sani Jingir’s endorsement of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections.

Daurawa emphasized that politics should center on the capability and service of candidates rather than their religious affiliations. He pointed out that Nigeria's democratic framework does not recognize any political party as Islamic or Christian, questioning the existence of any registered party with a religious manifesto.

Daurawa advocated for voters to choose candidates based on their past performance and potential contributions, regardless of whether the ticket is Muslim-Muslim, Christian-Christian, or mixed. He also urged young people to avoid drug abuse and violence, encouraging peaceful participation in the electoral process.
