Oyo APC Claims Makinde Can't Challenge Tinubu in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State stated that Governor Seyi Makinde does not have the capability to contest against President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. In a statement by Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare, the party characterized Makinde’s presidential aspirations as a political drama aimed at entertaining and distracting the public, alleging that state resources are being misused in his pursuit of the presidency.

This declaration followed Makinde's remarks about being available for chieftaincy titles after his tenure ends in May 2027, suggesting he would have no serious engagements at that time. The APC cautioned Makinde against threatening citizens and traditional rulers regarding their interactions with APC candidates.

The party asserted that Makinde lacks the necessary qualities and experience to be president and predicted he would perform poorly in the election, even if he managed to appear on the ballot. The APC warned that those responsible for any misuse of public funds would be held accountable.
