Seyi Makinde Claims 2027 Election is APC vs. Nigerians

Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), declared that the 2027 presidential election will be a contest between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and ordinary Nigerians, rather than between political parties. Speaking during a town hall meeting in Katsina, he urged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the electoral process.

Makinde outlined the APM's “Reset Nigeria” agenda, which focuses on critical issues such as the economy, education, insecurity, and institutional reforms. He refuted claims made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding a ₦50 billion federal grant for upgrading the Ibadan Airport, clarifying that the project is fully funded by the Oyo State Government.

Additionally, he expressed concern over Nigeria's security situation, referencing the recent killing of 37 young Nigerians in Niger State, and criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not formally transmitting executive power to Vice President Kashim Shettima during extended foreign trips.
