Nasarawa Governor Sule Hints at Senate Bid for 2027

Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has indicated that he may reconsider his earlier decision not to run for a Senate seat in the 2027 elections. During a live appearance on Channels Television, he acknowledged the growing pressure from his parents and close allies, which has influenced his stance.

Sule, who is currently serving his second term as governor, has previously stated on several occasions that he was not interested in contesting for political office after his tenure. However, his recent comments suggest a potential shift in this position.

He has stressed the importance of contributing to national development and has highlighted his leadership roles in various organizations, including his current position as chairman of the North Central Governors Forum. Sule also reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu, particularly regarding economic and security issues, and emphasized the necessity of establishing state police to tackle insecurity in Nigeria.
