Ohuabunwa Urges Tinubu to Halt NBC's 2027 Digital Plan

Godfrey Ohuabunwa, a public affairs analyst and businessman, has raised concerns regarding the National Broadcasting Commission's (NBC) plan for a digital switchover from analogue broadcasting ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement made on Wednesday, Ohuabunwa warned that the current implementation strategy appears rushed and could result in serious risks for the nation.

He noted that the transition plan, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council in 2012, has not been fully realized, as the migration to digital terrestrial television (DTT) is incomplete. Ohuabunwa, who is also the chairman of the Association of Licensed Set-Top Box Manufacturers in Nigeria, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and halt the confusion surrounding the NBC's announcement of the 2027 migration date.

He emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford any confusion in its broadcasting system at such a critical time.
