NDC to Launch Presidential Campaign in October 2026

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that its presidential campaign will commence in October 2026. The party has initiated preparations for deploying party agents for the upcoming 2027 general elections, instructing state and local government chairmen to compile and harmonize lists of agents for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and State Assembly elections.

This directive was issued on September 21, 2026, and follows the opening of the statutory campaign period on August 19, 2026. The National Executive Committee (NEC) has mandated state and Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen to convene meetings with candidates and stakeholders to finalize the lists of party agents.

The NDC will prepare two categories of agents, one for the National Assembly elections and another for the governorship and State Assembly elections. The final lists must be ratified by party leadership, including the presidential candidate and running mate, and submitted within two weeks.

The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027.
