NDC Invites Peter Obi and Kwankwaso for 2027 Ticket

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is actively courting Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to secure a presidential ticket for the upcoming 2027 elections. The NDC has set a two-week deadline for these prominent politicians to join its platform.

The party aims to capitalize on this opportunity, having recently featured a photo of Obi shaking hands with Kwankwaso in a post. Last week, both politicians launched a movement to mobilize support for a potential joint ticket ahead of the elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has established a deadline of May 30, 2026, for parties to submit their membership registration and nominate candidates for the 2027 elections. Meanwhile, opposition parties, including the ADC led by Kabiru Turaki and factions of the PDP and NNPP, have called for an extension of the deadline for party primaries, which is currently set to end in July.

The NDC's efforts come amid allegations against the APC regarding pressure on the Supreme Court to deliver unfavorable judgments against opposition coalitions.
