NDC Seeks Obi, Kwankwaso for 2027 Presidential Ticket

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) is actively seeking the support of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for a potential joint presidential ticket in the upcoming 2027 elections. This initiative was announced by Justin Ijeh, the group's national public secretary, who emphasized the need to mobilize support for both politicians.

The NDC's appeal comes at a time when the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing internal leadership disputes, particularly a case pending before the Supreme Court regarding a faction led by David Mark against rival chairman Nafiu Bala. Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of May 30, 2026, for political parties to submit their membership registration and nominations for the 2027 elections.

The NDC's move is seen as a strategic effort to consolidate support as other opposition parties, including factions of the ADC, People's Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), grapple with internal challenges and the approaching deadline for party primaries at the end of July.
