2027: Niger Gov Bago declares self DG of Tinubu’s re-election campaign

Niger State Governor Umar Bago has declared himself as the Director-General of President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign for 2027. The announcement was made during a recent APC stakeholder meeting in Minna, where Bago emphasized the importance of adhering to the unwritten principle of power rotation in Nigeria.

He urged fellow politicians to respect this practice, which has fostered relative peace in the country. Bago also criticized party members who defected from the APC, calling them ungrateful.

He defended Tinubu, stating that the ongoing challenges in the nation were inherited and steps were being taken to address them. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cautioned against premature campaigning, reminding politicians that formal campaigning violates the Electoral Act.
