Opposition Leaders Unite Against Tinubu for 2027 Election

Leaders of Nigeria's opposition parties are working to establish a national coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027. Salihu Lukman, speaking on behalf of the coalition under G100, announced that the coalition's formation is intended to ensure equal opportunities and mutual respect among the participating parties.

A meeting is set for September 23, 2026, where the coalition will finalize its decision on a consensus presidential candidate. The Central Leadership Committee has also decided to expand the coalition to include other progressive opposition parties interested in joining this initiative.

The Committee is committed to regular meetings to unify opposition parties and present a cohesive front in the 2027 elections. The coalition currently includes the African Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party, and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, among others.
