Opposition Coalition Key to Unseating Tinubu in 2027

Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed that an opposition coalition is essential for unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. In an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media, Okonkwo emphasized that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would struggle to gain traction if he runs independently.

He stated that even with former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate, Obi would not have sufficient support, particularly in northern Nigeria. Okonkwo remarked, "Coalition is the only way out," and criticized the notion of challenging Tinubu without a united front, suggesting that Tinubu's political strength would overwhelm Obi's efforts.

He referenced the 2023 elections, indicating that Kano voters did not support Obi then and would likely not do so in 2027 either.
