Adebayo: Nigeria's Presidency Not for the Elderly

Adewol Adebayo, the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), asserted during an interview on Symfoni TV that the presidency of Nigeria should not be occupied by elderly individuals. He likened the role of the president to that of a football player, emphasizing that one cannot play football at the age of 80.

Adebayo expressed that while he is not ageist, he believes that the presidency requires stamina, similar to that needed by a coach or captain of a football team. He referenced the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting that their ages should be considered when discussing presidential qualifications.

Adebayo indicated that he wished he had been in a position to run for president when he was younger, implying that age should be a factor in leadership roles.
