Tanko Affirms Obi Will Withdraw if Debt Allegations Proven

Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, affirmed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would honor his commitment to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if it is established that he left debts or financial liabilities when he exited office as governor of Anambra State. Tanko made this statement during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding Obi's financial record during his governorship.

When questioned about whether Obi would step down if the allegations were substantiated, Tanko expressed confidence in Obi's integrity, stating, “My principal has always owned up to his own word anytime, any day,” indicating that Obi would take responsibility if the claims regarding debts were confirmed.
