2027: Old Eastern Region Group Urges Jonathan Not to Run for Presidency, Claims He Has No Chance to Win

The Eastern Union (EU), a pressure group advocating for political realignment in the Old Eastern Region, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan not to run for the presidency in the 2027 general election. The group claims that Jonathan has no chance of winning and that his candidacy could potentially harm the chances of a strong and united opposition.

EU National President Charles Anike emphasized the need for Jonathan to carefully consider his political calculations, warning that his ambitions may be perceived as selfish. Anike suggested that Jonathan should instead support a sellable and credible candidate from the South, particularly the Eastern Region, to increase the opposition's chances of dethroning the current federal government.

The group believes that Jonathan's participation in the election could inadvertently benefit the ruling party and its allies. Anike urged Jonathan to prioritize his reputation and political credibility by avoiding being used by opportunistic politicians.
