Oyo Ex-Deputy Governor Arapaja to Join APC Ahead of 2027

Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, is reportedly planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This information was gathered by Daily Post, which indicated that Arapaja met with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja two days prior to the report.

During this meeting, he also engaged with APC chieftains in Oyo State, including gubernatorial candidate Barrister Sharafadeen Alli and deputy gubernatorial candidate Mr. Adesoji Adedeji, as well as Oyo South senatorial candidate Hon.

Aderemi Oseni. Arapaja, who was previously aligned with a faction of the PDP, has been a significant political figure in Oyo State, having served as the national vice chairman for the southwest and later as the deputy national chairman of the PDP.

His political career includes serving as the chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government Area from 1999 to 2002 and as a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
