2027: PDP, APC test might in Oyo bye-election

The upcoming bye-election in Oyo State presents an opportunity for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to showcase their strength ahead of the 2027 general election. The election, scheduled for August 16, 2025, will fill a vacant position in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency following the death of the previous officeholder.

Nineteen political parties have expressed readiness to participate in the election, with five candidates already confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Both the PDP and APC have been actively campaigning in the area, with Governor Seyi Makinde declaring that Oyo State belongs to the PDP.
