Bye-election: Five political parties scramble for 217, 980 votes in Ibadan North

Five political parties are vying for 217,980 votes in the bye-election to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat in Ibadan North Federal Constituency. The election was necessitated by the death of the former occupant, Hon.

Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, last year. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed the participation of five political parties in the election, with candidates from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Progressive Congress (APC), Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) contesting.

All five candidates signed a peace accord ahead of the election to ensure a peaceful and credible process. INEC revealed that 217,980 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) have been collected out of the 272,196 registered voters in the constituency, with polling units set up across twelve wards for the election.
