Peter Obi Named NDC Presidential Candidate for 2027

Peter Obi has emerged as the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement was made during a special convention held in Abuja, which followed the conclusion of primary elections conducted across the country.

Obi, who previously served as the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, was joined at the convention by NDC National Chairman Seriake Dickson and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. Both Obi and Kwankwaso recently joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal divisions and ongoing court cases as reasons for their departure.
