Tanko Yunusa Confident in Obi's Core North Support for 2027

Tanko Yunusa, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, stated in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune that he is optimistic about Peter Obi's prospects in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Yunusa believes that Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), will secure widespread support across Nigeria, including the Core North.

He emphasized that the NDC is prepared to perform strongly in both presidential and legislative contests. Yunusa dismissed speculation regarding Obi losing the NDC presidential ticket, asserting that the ticket has already been confirmed and uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

He also defended Obi's commitment to serving his term if elected president and noted the importance of respecting the existing power-sharing arrangement between the North and South. Yunusa expressed confidence in the campaign's ability to expand its grassroots presence in the Core North, highlighting Obi's potential to attract support in the region.
