Peter Obi Promises to Lower Fuel Prices if Elected in 2027

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), made a commitment to moderate fuel pump prices across Nigeria if he is elected President in the upcoming 2027 election. This pledge was announced during an interview with Arise Television on Thursday.

Obi emphasized his intention to eradicate corruption within the fuel subsidy system, asserting that this would lead to a reduction in petrol prices. He stated, “We’ll moderate fuel prices all over Nigeria.

We will remove corruption from the subsidy. When I remove it, petrol and everything else will go down.” Furthermore, Obi addressed concerns regarding the impact of the removal of the fuel subsidy on poverty levels in the North, claiming that other factors, not the subsidy removal, were responsible for worsening poverty and insecurity in the region.
