APC Warns Against Atiku Abubakar's 2027 Presidential Bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, urging them to prevent him from attaining the presidency in the 2027 elections. The APC's statement, released on its verified X handle, alleges that Atiku is a danger to Nigeria, citing numerous reports of his involvement in local and international bribery and corruption schemes.

The party claims that Atiku's history is a summary of Nigeria's corruption episodes that have harmed the economy and eroded public trust. The APC specifically references the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project, alleging that an International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Tribunal in Paris examined a $500,000 payment made in January 2003 by Leno Adesanya, promoter of Sunrise Power, to Jennifer Douglas, Atiku's wife at the time, through an offshore company.

The APC asserts that Atiku's past is marred by various scandals, including the Siemens bribery scandal and the PTDF funds controversy, raising serious questions about his suitability for the presidency.
