Umeh Predicts NDC's Strength in Kano for 2027 Elections

On Friday, Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central, declared that no candidate can defeat the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State if the general elections are conducted freely and credibly. Umeh made this statement during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today programme, where he discussed the strength of opposition forces ahead of the 2027 elections.

He noted his collaboration with Kwankwaso and other NDC leaders, asserting that the party is well-prepared to contest the upcoming polls. Umeh pointed to recent political gatherings as indicators of increasing public interest in the opposition, mentioning the reception of Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the NDC governorship candidate in Rivers State.

He acknowledged the influence of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the rainbow coalition but warned against premature victory declarations, emphasizing that the competitive dynamics could emerge in other states as well. Umeh called for an open and fair election process, stating that the outcome would depend on the integrity of the campaigning environment.
