INEC Launches PVC Collection on October 9, 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will start on Friday, October 9, 2026. This announcement was made by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, during a strategic workshop for editors in Abuja.
The National Register of Voters has surpassed 103 million, following the completion of a three-phase Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise that added 10,772,421 new registrations. The first phase ran from August 25 to December 10, 2025, with 2,611,266 registrations; the second phase from January 5 to April 17, 2026, with 4,121,835 registrations; and the third phase from May 11 to July 26, 2026, with 3,867,997 registrations.
Amupitan urged the media to inform voters about collection locations. He also mentioned the introduction of online voter registration and printable PVC technology to ease the registration process.
INEC has completed readiness assessments in the South-West and North-West geopolitical zones in preparation for the 2027 elections.
