INEC Sets October 9 for PVC Collection Nationwide

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will begin on October 9, 2026, across Nigeria. This announcement was made by INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, during the North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting with Staff and Readiness Assessment for the 2027 General Election held in Kaduna.

Professor Amupitan noted that the recent voter registration exercise resulted in over 10.7 million new registrations. He urged the need to eliminate PVC distribution bottlenecks at the Local Government Area level to prevent the disenfranchisement of eligible citizens.

Additionally, he revealed that INEC is refining its technological systems, which include voter verification and result transmission processes, as well as the Result Management Systems, notably the newly introduced eEC8A. The commission is also adopting a ‘Zero-Failure’ approach to logistics, focusing on early deployment of materials, movement, security coordination, and training of ad-hoc personnel.
