Rivers APC Names Major Jack as Deputy Governorship Candidate

Major Jack, the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has been selected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. This announcement follows the emergence of Kingsley Ogundu Chinda as the APC's governorship candidate after the primary election held in May 2026.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Ikenga Chibike, confirmed Jack's candidacy on Tuesday, stating that his selection is part of a strategy to achieve geographical balance on the ticket and to bolster the party’s grassroots support, particularly in the riverine areas of Rivers State. Major Jack previously defected to the APC in December 2025, along with the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, and several other lawmakers, indicating a significant shift in political alliances within the state.
