Dickson Dismisses Presidential Ambitions Against Tinubu

Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West in the Senate, addressed speculation regarding his potential presidential candidacy against Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections during a press conference in Abuja. He emphasized that his current focus is on building a new political platform through the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) rather than pursuing personal ambitions.

Dickson described the 2027 presidential race as premature and stressed the importance of strengthening the NDC to attract Nigerians across the country. He clarified that the NDC is distinct from the defunct Niger Delta Congress and aims to operate as a national platform.

Dickson also announced his resignation from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal divisions and a decline in leadership within the party. He urged the need for urgent reflection among party leaders to avoid self-inflicted destruction and warned against a shift towards a one-party political system in Nigeria.
