Peter Obi Urges Leaders to Prioritize Lives Over Politics

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has expressed grave concerns over the escalating violence in Nigeria, urging political leaders to prioritize human life over political ambitions as the country approaches the 2027 elections. In a statement shared officially, Obi highlighted the alarming scale of insecurity, noting that in the first two months of 2026 alone, approximately 1,000 Nigerians were reportedly killed, with thousands more abducted due to violent attacks in states including Zamfara, Kwara, Ondo, Kebbi, Edo, Benue, Adamawa, and Plateau.

He criticized political actors for focusing on party structures and campaign strategies instead of addressing the urgent humanitarian crisis. Obi emphasized that history will remember leaders not for their strategies but for their actions during times when Nigerians are suffering.

He called for a shift in national priorities to safeguard human life, stating that the ongoing violence must be addressed urgently to prevent further devastation of communities.
