Over 1,000 Nigerians Killed Amid Rising Violence in 2026

Peter Obi, a prominent political figure, has stated that more than 1,000 Nigerians have been killed in the first two months of 2026, attributing this to a significant increase in violence across the nation. He criticized the political leadership for focusing on the upcoming 2027 elections instead of addressing the urgent security crisis that has seen thousands abducted and families devastated.

Obi highlighted that 25 states have been affected by attacks from bandits and terrorist groups, leading to mass shootings and invasions. He expressed concern that the current political discourse is centered around power-sharing rather than the pressing need to prioritize human life and safety.
