Peter Obi: 2027 Election Manipulation Will Be Challenged

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), addressed supporters during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday. He asserted that there will be attempts to manipulate the election results for the 2027 general elections, particularly concerning the IReV (Independent Results Viewing).

Obi emphasized that his supporters will not tolerate intimidation at polling units, stating that no polling unit has more than five officials, which should not intimidate approximately 50 voters. He declared, “Coming into the 2027 election, nobody will intimidate us again at the polling unit.” Obi expressed confidence that while there may be attempts to manipulate the IReV, it will not be easy, as there will be multiple IReVs available.

He assured that if any IReV experiences glitches, they would provide a new one without issues, stressing the importance of ensuring that electoral processes do not negatively impact citizens' lives.
