Village Boys Movement Launches to Challenge Tinubu

The Village Boys Movement was unveiled in Abuja on Thursday as a new civic platform aimed at countering the political maneuvers of President Bola Tinubu in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election. The movement, led by Maaz Tochukwu Ezeok, seeks to promote a values-driven political culture in Nigeria, contrasting with the existing patronage politics.

Ezeok emphasized the importance of discipline, accountability, and service-driven leadership, highlighting the need for a shift away from wealth-centric political power. The movement plans to organize a two million-man march across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, focusing on grassroots mobilization and civic education.

Ezeok cited Peter Obi as an example of disciplined governance and fiscal prudence, while stressing that the movement does not endorse any single political figure as a savior for Nigeria. The motto of the Village Boys Movement is "unbought, unafraid, unstoppable," aiming to empower citizens to resist electoral intimidation and promote integrity in public service.
