ADC Urges Competence Over Tribe in 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerians to prioritize competence over tribal or religious affiliations when selecting leaders for the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during the 27th Ramadan lecture hosted by ADC chieftain Mr.

Salvador, who emphasized that the upcoming polls are crucial for shaping Nigeria's democratic trajectory. He attributed the country's socio-economic struggles to prolonged poor leadership and highlighted the need for good leadership to combat hardship, unemployment, and insecurity.

Mr. Salvador cautioned against voting based on short-term benefits, warning that such decisions could lead to long-term consequences.

He also advised young people not to trade their future for temporary inducements during elections. Furthermore, he criticized the new electoral act for not mandating electronic transmission of results, arguing that transparency in results would boost public confidence.

ADC leaders, including Mr. Adeniji and Mr.

Idigbo, echoed the importance of unity and open internal democracy within the party to foster national unity.
