PDP Rejects APC Alliance, Vows to Defeat in 2027 Elections

The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly dismissed claims of a secret alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as false and politically motivated. In an interview, Wike emphasized that the PDP remains focused on reclaiming power and defeating the APC in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The party's national secretariat in Abuja has been the center of this declaration, with ongoing speculations about Wike's relationship with the ruling party. The PDP is currently undergoing a screening process for gubernatorial and presidential aspirants across several states, with reports indicating a smooth process so far.

Despite internal challenges and a leadership crisis, the PDP is determined to unseat the APC. Additionally, controversies have emerged within the PDP regarding the legitimacy of its leadership structure following a Supreme Court judgment that nullified a previous national convention held in November 2025, which produced a leadership aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
