Wike-Backed PDP Faction Rejects ADC Merger Talks

A faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), supported by Nyesom Wike, has publicly dismissed any discussions regarding a merger with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. This statement was made during an inaugural meeting of the faction's national working committee held at the party's national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.

Abdulrahman Muham, the faction's national chairman, emphasized their commitment to maintaining the party's identity and structure, warning against any unauthorized attempts to form alliances. He stated that any individual or group attempting to drag the PDP into an alliance without proper authorization would face necessary legal actions.

Muham also highlighted that party members are free to express their views without undermining the party's integrity. Ini Ememobong, the faction's spokesman, downplayed reports of engagement with the ADC, asserting that such discussions do not represent the official position of the party and that any alliance must follow due process.
