Okonkwo Backs Obi for ADC Presidential Ticket in 2027

Harri Okonkwo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Idemili North in Anambra State, declared strong optimism that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi will win the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming 2027 elections. Okonkwo made these remarks while speaking to journalists during a medical outreach program organized by the Anni Okonkwo Foundation.

He noted that his decision to support Obi was driven by political calculations ahead of the next general elections. Okonkwo criticized certain aspects of the amended electoral act, arguing that provisions limiting political participation weaken citizens' rights to freely associate.

He stated that while the law discourages membership in multiple political parties, it does not prevent individuals from supporting candidates outside their political platform. Okonkwo raised concerns about the management of public resources and urged leaders to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians over personal political interests.
