Peter Obi Plans New Political Party Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, is allegedly planning to resign from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the end of April 2024, with a formal declaration of a new political party expected in early May 2024. This move comes as the ADC faces internal crises and legal disputes that have not been resolved favorably, particularly concerning its leadership.

The Ndigbo Tinubu 2027 Forum, which issued a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Dr. Ugwuok Ugwuok, claims that Obi is considering this alternative platform for his presidential ambitions. They also suggest that opposition leaders may rally behind Obi's new platform amidst ongoing legal battles within the ADC.

The forum has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint key political figures, including Kei Alli, Nuhu Ribadu, Dave Umahi, Nyesom Wike, and Bello Matawalle, to spearhead the 2027 presidential campaign to avoid a repeat of the circumstances that led to the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
