Galadima Defends Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Amid Criticism

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), defended the support for the Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on a prime-time program on Wednesday, Galadima addressed the criticism faced by supporters of the alliance, arguing that it reflects a misunderstanding of Nigeria's political history.

He emphasized that political alliances between the north, south, and east are not new, citing historical collaborations among leaders such as Ahmadu Bello, Kashim Ibrahim, and Nnamdi Azikiwe during Nigeria's struggle for independence. Galadima maintained that the collapse of the First Republic should not be blamed on civilian political leaders, asserting that the military was responsible for truncating the democratic system.

He criticized the current political landscape, where various factions within the opposition are fighting among themselves rather than uniting against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
