Imasuagbon Advocates Competence for 2027 Presidential Race

Kenneth Imasuagbon, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress and former Edo State governorship aspirant, emphasized the need for Nigerians to prioritize competence over zoning or regional considerations when selecting the next president in the 2027 election. Speaking to journalists in Benin, he argued that the principle of rotational presidency is not enshrined in the Constitution.

Imasuagbon called for support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, citing his ability to tackle Nigeria's economic and security issues. He criticized the growing regional and ethnic considerations in governance under President Bola Tinubu's administration and stressed the importance of electing a leader who promotes fairness and inclusiveness.

Imasuagbon stated that the ultimate power lies with the electorate, asserting that the ruling All Progressives Congress cannot rely solely on incumbency if the people are determined to reclaim their power.
