As the campaign for the January 16, 2027 presidential election officially begins, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Nigerians to evaluate the records, ideas, and character of all candidates. The statement from Obi's Media Office, signed by spokesman Idris Zekeri Jnr, emphasizes that the 150-day campaign period should focus on substantive issues rather than political propaganda.

Obi is characterized as a “candidate of conscience,” advocating for a shift from a consumption-driven economy to a productive one. His campaign will address reducing the cost of governance, enhancing education and healthcare, improving national security, and creating economic opportunities for youth.
