Igbos to Support Tinubu's 2027 Re-election, Says Ikonne

Ikonne, the immediate past executive secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), launched a grassroots group in Abia State to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027. He described Tinubu's victory in the 2023 elections as a "wind" that would turn into a "tsunami" in 2027, particularly in the South East.

Ikonne asserted that the governors of the South East, including Alex Otti of Abia State and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, are aligned with Tinubu's re-election campaign. He criticized Peter Obi's one-term promise, arguing that it would deprive the South East of an eight-year presidency.

Ikonne claimed that Obi's leadership has not yielded development in the region and that the Labour Party is struggling. He expressed confidence that the Igbos would not be misled and would support Tinubu again in the upcoming elections.
