Obi Warns Nigerians Against Re-electing Tinubu in 2027

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and a presidential candidate, has called on Nigerians to refrain from re-electing President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Obi's appeal is based on Tinubu's failure to deliver on his campaign promise to improve electricity supply.

In a post on social media, Obi recalled Tinubu's 2023 campaign pledge, stating that if Nigerians do not experience consistent electricity supply within four years, they should not vote for him again. Obi pointed out that when Tinubu assumed office, Nigeria's power generation was at 4,000 megawatts, and the country's electricity tariff had significantly increased.

He noted that Nigeria's per capita electricity consumption is only 144 kilowatt-hours, compared to the African average of 617 kWh. Obi criticized the current administration's leadership, citing a lack of accountability and the disconnect between leaders and the hardships faced by citizens, as evidenced by a recent incident at an airport where Tinubu was unable to stay for more than ten minutes due to power issues.
