Peter Obi and Kwankwaso Expected to Leave NDC

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the president, has asserted that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso will likely depart from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) due to unmet expectations within the party. Ahmad made this statement in a post shared on his verified X account, arguing that the political ambitions of Obi and Kwankwaso do not align with the long-term vision of the NDC.

He indicated that both politicians are focused on building a formidable political structure that will keep them relevant beyond the next general elections. Former Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson also suggested that Obi and Kwankwaso's camp is concentrating on the 2027 contest, as their expectations within the NDC have not been realized.

Ahmad emphasized that this move is anticipated as they aim to position themselves strongly for the presidential race in 2031.
